Vermont Vacation and New Haven |
|
July 19 2008 |
|
It was an exquisite vacation in Vermont.
We had a wedding in Bolten Valley then went off to Stowe for several
days. Below is where we stayed including my room and a small
shop in town called the Harvest Market where I grabbed some coffee and
a copy of the Boston Globe. |

After the wedding and vacation, we
headed to Connecticut to see Waddles. He and I had a fun round
of golf at the Woodhaven Country Club. Soon thereafter, we hit
Sullivan's on Chapel near the Yale campus for dinner where I forgot
that tax was only 6% and shorted the waitress. Luckily we caught
on before leaving and supplemented her tip. |

From there, it was off for drinks at
some local Hamden bars. The first stop at Eli's on Whitney was
less than satisfactory. Despite placing empty Bud Light Lime
bottle after empty Bud Light Lime bottle on the bar, Waddles was never
asked for a replacement. At what bar, other than this, does a
bartender not ask if you want another drink? After a while of
getting fed up with a young twenty-something hitting the back of our
bar stools, we decided to leave for another bar when we were prodded
to stay by the bartender's awful rendition of Foreigner's I Want to
Know What Love Is. |
|
Next up was Dunn's Pub. Waddles
suggested it was low-key, yet we found the place hopping with about
thirty patrons. We headed to the dart board and eventually
chatted up a gal who had taken an interest in our dancing. As it
turned out she was a Yankee fan and didn't take too kindly to me
calling A-Rod names. She slapped me in the face. Everyone
all together..."Cuckoo-cuckoo-cuckoo". It was quite exciting as
I had no idea how to react. However, I suggest avoiding any
Yankee-Red Sox talk with anyone. I have witnessed two skirmishes
in the past three months related to Yankees trash talk. |
